TDS® Fiber Construction Continues

In order to enable your fiber-to-the-home connection when services launch, we will need to place a buried or aerial fiber line from our fiber cabinet to your house. Performing this work now will reduce the time it takes for your installation.

You do not need to make an appointment or be home for our contractors to begin or complete their work.

What to Expect When Your Home Has Buried Facilities

The majority of homes have buried facilities and the following is what you can expect during fiber network construction:

  1. Outside contractors will be on your property identifying and locating underground utilities. After this happens, please mark any private underground equipment such as sprinklers or invisible fences. NOTE: If you have questions or need assistance with identifying private equipment please email fibersupport@tds.net or call 1-844-216-6843.
  2. Our contractors will use trenching equipment to run the fiber line underground from our cabinet to your home. Cabinets are usually located in your back yard. (See Figure 1: Trenching equipment)

  3. After the fiber line is run and buried, a fiber coil will be placed near existing facilities and where we will connect to your home during the installation. (See Figure 2: Fiber coil)

  4. After this work is complete, contractors will restore any lawn and landscaping that was disturbed during construction.

What to Expect When Your Home Has Aerial Facilities

If you have aerial facilities, our contractors will run the fiber line to your home without disturbing your yard.

Installation Scheduling

When fiber services are ready to launch, you will be contacted to place an order if you haven’t done so already. An installation date will be scheduled to connect the fiber line to your home and set up equipment.

You can choose to opt-out of placing the fiber line to your home at this time. This means you will be contacted by TDS to reschedule after launch.

An opt-out deadline was included in the email. If you do not opt out by that date, we will continue with placing the fiber line to your home.

You also agreed that TDS technicians may access your premises prior to installation to conduct a site survey and to place temporary or permanent facilities.
